Product Summary:

Walkabout Back End Harness

Recommended by veterinary surgeons as one of the most effective walking aids on the market, the Walkabout Back End Harness is commonly used on animals with arthritis, hip dysplasia, spinal trauma, and general fatigue. It also helps prevent back injury to pet owners from lifting pets improperly.

Designed to fit both male and female pets, the Walkabout Back End Harness will keep your pet happy and mobile despite his or her injuries or age-related problems. It provides the balance and support necessary for your pet to lead a happier, healthier, cleaner life. The harness can be left on all day long, even for many days in a row, as long as your pet can handle that length of time. When fit properly, it is designed to help dogs and cats go out and do their "business" without soiling the harness.

Good product - great aid for dog with rear leg arthritis. Easy to help him get up
Easy to put on, easy to clean, easy to help a heavy dog with weak rear legs get up from lying down and to help up stairs.

The dog harness surpassed my expectations
My 14 year old King Charles Spaniel's hind legs no longer work. This was creating a depressed mood for my dog and a considerable amount of back breaking effort for me. However, all that changed when the harness arrived. Now my dog is eager to go for walks and choose where he wants to go in the home. I recommend this harness to anyone who has a dog with limited hind leg mobility. I'm sure your dog will thank you!

I had one of these harnesses a long time ago for a dog that couldn't use her back legs. I liked the material it was made of as it would give a little so not to injure the dog. I hope it is still made out of the same material.

Our dog has arthritis extremely bad in his rear hip and this type of device was recommended by our vet until he gets his surgery. We purchased one and it was night and day for him to get around. We decided to buy a second so one can get washed and dry before use.

My dog needs help getting up, climbing stairs and getting into car so I needed a harness that could stay on him and that he would still be able to potty and walk to eat and drink without someone holding handles. Had bought another brand of harness that said it stayed on but if you let go of the handles it dropped around his legs don't know who thought that was a good idea this harness does stay on and up by itself using velcro and straps

A shopper on Dec 24, 2014

My 11.5 yr old labradoodle has osteosarcoma and had his right hind leg amputated. He has fallen several times and now has a huge hematoma on his back and is in a lot of pain and can't support himself to walk. Will the walkabout work with his only have one hind leg?

Can the dog easily go poo poo while wearing the harness?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think that should be fine. The harness is pretty amazing and fits well. My pup uses hers for getting in and out of the car and up stairs. Luckily, we don't leave it on her all the time right now so she hasn't pooped with it on but she should be able to easily.
She is a 68 lb black lab. Should I get the large?
Roz B on Apr 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Abdomen - Measure the circumference of the abdomen directly in front of the back legs
Upper Thigh (Back Leg) - Measure the circumference of the upper thigh (back leg) at the point where it meets the body.
Also, the sizing chart is in the product summary. Hope that helps!
what size do I buy for a small dog?
A shopper on Jun 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The sizing specifications are in the product summary. I'd recommend looking at those and measuring the appropriate parts on your dog to make sure you get the right size for your pup.
Can it be used on a dog who can't stand or use any legs?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: A dog really needs to have use of the front legs in order for this to work. Ours is paralyzed in the rear but has use of both front legs and it works great.
My male dog has an inoperable groin hernia, does the underside of this harness look like it would support this? Or modified to support?
NERF M on Jul 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is a possibility that it could but I do want to point out that the intended use of this product is to provide support to dog with joint/hip/back problems. Its design does not take into account any kind of support for what you are looking for. I would speak with your vet to see if he feels this would be a good fit for your particular situation.
