Product Summary:

Seresto Flea & Tick Collar for Small Dogs
The performance you expect from a topical flea and tick treatment, in a non-messy, easy-to-use collar

The Seresto® Flea & Tick Collar for Small Dogs is an easy-to-use, effective way to kill and repel fleas and ticks. The innovative Sustained Release Technology offers odorless and non-greasy protection for up to eight months. It begins to kill fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours of initial application.

The Seresto® Flea & Tick Collar is for small dogs and features a 15-inch, easy-to-use, no-hassle, waterproof collar size. It can be used by puppies seven weeks and older, weighing up to 18 lb. It kills deer ticks, American ticks, brown ticks, and Lone Star ticks, as well as chewing lice. The dual action protection provides a continuous release of two active ingredients: Imidacloprid controls flea infestations, while Flumethrin effectively repels and kills ticks. The combination works like a monthly topical flea and tick treatment, yet is designed to slowly release the ingredients in low concentrations for eight months.

Did you know? How to Confirm Your Dog Has Fleas

Item Specifications:

Special Safety Feature:
Because some pet parents may be concerned that a small dog could get stuck while wearing the Seresto® Flea & Tick Collar, it is designed with a safety release mechanism, where in the unlikely event your dog is trapped, its own strength is sufficient to widen the collar and offer a quick release. Because the collar is equipped with a predetermined breaking point, a hard pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.

Directions for Use:
To ensure the easy to use waterproof collar is applied correctly, read the complete directions for use found in the package insert.

  • Once you are ready to fit the collar to your dog, remove from protective bag immediately prior to use.
  • Unroll collar remove the plastic connectors inside the collar, ensuring that no remnants remain.
  • Insert end of the collar through the buckle.
  • Adjust the collar around the dog’s neck without tightening it too tight (as a guide, two fingers should fit between the collar and the neck).
  • Pull excess collar through the loop(s) and cut off any excess length extending one inch beyond the loop(s).
  • Seresto® comes with three optional reflector clips that can be attached to the collar to help keep your dog visible at night. The reflector clips should be evenly distributed on the non-overlapping part of the collar.

Jacki W on May 26, 2015
Best Answer: Hello! The large Seresto collar is recommended for dogs over 18lbs and older than 7 weeks. Below I have copied the link to the item page.

Is there a difference in dosage between the small and large collars?
We have a 19 lb Miniature Schnauzer and we got a large collar by mistake. It's bulkier than the small that he wore last time.
Will the dosage be too high for him?
Bernadette M on Apr 9, 2017
Best Answer: It is not recommended to use the large collar on a small dog as it does contain extra dosage which would harm the dog.

when flea season is over can you save the collar for future use by sealing it in an airtight bag?
Mary M on Nov 15, 2016
Best Answer: I believe this is actually a question for the manufacturer. Since I live in Indiana in the summer months and Florida in the winter months, my dog wears the Seresto collar year round - replacing it every 6-7 months (depending on how much she swims and gets a bath during the 8-month period). Our home in Indiana is on a lake and backs up to a State Park. Since she's been wearing this collar (approx. 3 years), she has not had a tick or flea on her. Love the collar.

A shopper on Apr 28, 2017
Best Answer: I would probably go with the small. My dogs are 15 lbs. and there was a lot of excess that I could cut off.

I have a 2.5lb 6 month old Yorkie. Is it safe for him? Was told his hair might fall out
A shopper on Apr 27, 2017
Best Answer: Never heard that before I guess it's possible? I have the same breed and started him on the seresto between 6 and 10 months. He was lass that 3 lbs also. It's taking him almost 3 years to get to 7.6 lbs lol But he just did not do well on the drops, made him sick to his stomach. The Seresto did super well! No rash, no hair loss. I do keep the neck fur trimmed, not to the skin though, so it can touch the neck better. I've never had a flea on him nor tick and we are in Ohio. Best of luck with your little one. 🙋🏻♥️

I have two dogs and worry about them licking each others collars. Would they get sick from it? My question
has to do with the Seresto flea and tick collar.
A shopper on May 14, 2015
Best Answer: I love this collar! It works really well; there have been no ticks or fleas on my dog who normally gets at least 5 or 6 with each outing in the woods. I really don't think your dogs will get sick from licking the collar. I've accidently kissed my dog's flea/tick collar with no adverse effects (a few times)...The collar doesn't have any residue or smell, so unless your dogs are attracted to flea collars, I don't think a few licks will do any harm. I have 3 dogs and have not had any problems with poisoning. By the way, I used to use Frontline Plus, and have found this collar to be more effective, both in cost and use.

XHhave a 2 1/2 pound Yorkey is it safe for him was told his hair might fall out?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2017
Best Answer: Hello,

Per the product label:

Slight hair loss and mild skin reactions due to the mechanical irritation of the collar may occur
at the application site which usually recover within 1 or 2 weeks without the need for collar removal.

Best Answer: The small is for dogs up to 18 lbs. You would need the large and you would need to cut it to fit properly.
