Rimadyl is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs, and control of postoperative pain associated with soft-tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs. Rimadyl works by reducing hormones that cause pain and inflammation in your dog's body.

For use:
Dogs at least 6 weeks old
Active ingredient(s):
carprofen
Cautions:
Rimadyl should not be used in dogs exhibiting previous hypersensitivity to carprofen. Do not use on cats. Rimadyl is not recommended for use in dogs with bleeding disorders (e.g., Von Willebrand’s disease), as safety has not been established in dogs with these disorders. The safety of this medication has not been evaluated in pregnant, breeding, or nursing animals. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
Side effects:
Side effects frequently reported have been gastrointestinal signs. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. If any of these side effects are observed contact your veterinarian immediately: decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, dark or tarry stools, increased water consumption, increased urination, pale gums due to anemia, yellowing of gums, skin or white of the eye due to jaundice, lethargy, incoordination, seizure, or behavioral changes. Serious adverse reactions associated with this drug class can occur without warning and in rare situations result in death. Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Usage:
Rimadyl should be given orally about the same time each day as directed by your veterinarian.
