Finally!
We have a lab who sheds 364 days per year and an English Setter, who sheds slightly less than that. I bought the narrow blade, and I love it. I used it about 3 times the first week and got unbelievable amounts of hair out. It cut my vacuuming at least in half. Plus, the dogs seem to like it, except for their tail, and they have never appreciated tail grooming. I go slow and steady and clean the rake off with almost every stroke. The dogs feel cleaner and silkier than ever. A word of advice: do this outdoors the first couple of times!

Great product. Reduces shedding throughout the house.
I have two labs. The grooming rake helps reduce shedding throughout the house. Plus, the dogs coats look great. It makes the coat look healthy, smooth and clean. It removes the dead undercoat and the dogs have less dander.

best dog grooming rake
When I received this I was doubtful. The shape of the blades looked like it would never work. I was so pleasantly surprised. It works excellent. Other rakes have pointed ends and would hurt my puppy no matter how soft I was. This doesn't hurt her and gets amazing amounts of her undercoat that is shedding. I will never use any other type. I highly recommend this. Make sure you get the right one for the length of your dogs hair.

Wanted to try something new!
Just groomed two shepherds with this tool and there was absolutely NO problem, they didn't mind and I didn't even have to hold them as I was doing it. As long as I went slow, (pulling out the undercoat through the overcoat), this tool is amazing! Have tried every trick and gadget. Ferminator, brushes, rakes - never again! - The one thing I can't tell you is determining your size that you'll need I found that the "wide" model goes through very thick 4" wire hair coat. Don't expect this to undo knots and thick hair that has problems as it's more of a specialized tool to continue to keep your dog groomed.

Because the name brand alternative makes me wilt due to price, and I want to see if this works just as well.

I have a Great Pyrenees who does not enjoy being brushed/groomed and a Pyrenees Rescue site recommends this Grooming tool, so I want to try it.

Hoping this is the same as one I had previously. Have a newfoundland mix and this brush works great on her fur and she doesn't hate getting brushed with it.

flat black retriever, which rake?
Roger S on Feb 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe the fine toothed comb is for dogs without a heavy undercoat. The other two are made for dogs with thicker undercoats. The only difference between the narrow and wide would be how big your dog is. I have 2 mini Aussies with undercoats. I have the smaller rake so I can easily get under their legs and on their chest.
I am so impressed with this rake. The smooth teeth do not hurt the dogs yet gets all loose hair off of them. I do not have hair all over my floors. Love this rake.
