Product Summary:

Mendota® Leather Training Dog Collar

The Mendota® Leather Training Dog Collar works just as a slip collar. It tightens when your dog pulls and loosens when he responds to your correction. It can also be used as a rolled collar with a floating ring for lead attachment.

Features:

  • 1" wide with roller buckle
  • Center “safety” ring and slip ring
  • English bridle leather tanning process, all vegetable dyes
Item Specifications:

Sizes:
16" x 1"
18" x 1"
20" x 1"
22" x 1"
24" x 1"

Please Note: Mendota Training collars are measured from the middle of the buckle to the middle adjustment hole. This allows 2" of adjustment larger or smaller. There is no need to add inches to the actual measurement of your dog’s neck. The size of the dog’s neck is the collar size needed.

Measuring Method #1:
Simply measure your dog's neck at the base with a measuring tape or string. Allow room to slip two fingers between the measuring tape or string and your dog’s neck comfortably for the proper collar size.

Measuring Method #2:
You can also use your dog's current collar measurement if it fits correctly. Just unbuckle the collar, lay it out flat and measure from the adjustment hole being used to the center of the buckle. This is usually the most reliable measurement to use.

Yes. I like this collar because although it is a choke it is not too harsh like some chain collars yet let's my dog know what I am asking of her. She reacts very well to it.

Great idea. Strong, but not abrasive leather.
Ordered 18 inch...better than a prong collar...stronger than a common slip collar. Lots of room to expand as puppy grows. Great sturdy leather. Would order again.

Love this collar!
One of the best collars that I've had. I love that you can use it as a choke collar or not. I use it as a choke collar. Made of nice quality leather and hardware.
Gator loves his collar.

quality product, but not for small dogs
This is a high quality product. However, I have three small dogs (all under 20 lbs.) I bought these because of the slip, and having a buckle would make it adjustable. But, they are very heavy. I felt like my dog might tip over. lolIt would be an excellent choice for bigger dogs.

VERY nice!
Quality leather, very well made. I am using this collar on a very strong male American Bulldog and I have complete faith in it. The hardware is good quality, I'm not worried about anything breaking on this collar. It is also a very nice looking collar. One look and you can see the quality.

Worth every penny - lasts their lifetime!
A must for long coated dogs! Everyone asked me where I got mine once they understand it. So easy to go from standard collar to choke in a heartbeat - great when my dog wants to exude his independence rarely. I have had 3 of these collars and have had 3 dogs - each collar has lasted past the lifetime of the pooch. I won't buy any other type of collar no matter the breed of dog.

excellent and priced right
works great on my long haired (Rough) collies, does not pull out their fur like the cloth ones. The metal parts are that smooth. Price point is just fine---I pay same amount for my kids blue jeans and they each have half a dozen or more--so I do not think this is too much to pay for a high quality dog collar.

Worth every penny
Don't let the cost of this put you off. This is an excellent collar--beautiful, elegant, and gets better with time. I love the fact that I can use this for walks. This is the only collar my dogs wear. Worth every penny!

Love it
This collar is so versatile. It can be used as a slip collar, which I use for my dog, or it can be worn as just a regular collar with a floating ring. Great training tool and looks awesome. Worth the price - in the past I've purchased other Mendota collars/leashes and they are still in great condition. I got it wet when I washed my dog and there was no cracking or bleeding color. Highly recommend.

Great collar
I bought this collar after getting tired of those old nylon collars that do nothing but collect all the dirt in the world, not to mention harvesting fleas, I could never get rid of them after going to the lake or dog park because of those collars. This collar seems to be real comfortable for my dog, I just bought it so it hasn't been in the cold cold snow of Wisconsin just yet, but I think it'll hold up well. In order to protect it I take it off and replace it with a choke chain when we go swimming and when it rains. I was a little hesitant because the price is crazy, but it was worth it!

Made in the USA and Real Leather, not the plastic/polyester junk out there. The price seems reasonable.

I have used this style collar in the past and it is great for training. Much better than a metal choke collar. Very durable and nice looking, too.

looking at choke chains but they seam cruel to me. This seemed like a better choice.

Needed a pretty leather collar to hold her tags.

A martingale collar is great for training my puppy. He did not like me removing the collar over his head. I was not comfortable leaving this type of collar on all day. This collar is leather so if he gets in trouble with it on it will break and it has a buckle so I no longer have to pull it off over his ears.

Great collar for use on my Black Russian Terrier, as well as for walking my Dobie bitch. Great soft leather and wonder strong brass fittings. Worth the money.

It looks like a good, sturdy, comfortable collar for my young pitty. He super-pulls and I'm hoping this may help with some control in a comfortable way.
