How Amelia came to live with us:

Amelia was born in Mexico and was rescued by a good Samaritan when she was spotted struggling in the mountains of California. Only weighing 1.3 lbs., she unable to keep up with her former family; she was also bald and in very poor health.

Amelia was flown on a private plane by Wings of Rescue from California to Canada so she could be helped by the Dhana Metta Rescue Society - a rescue organization that specializes in very small dogs with health challenges.

After Amelia regained her health and almost doubled her weight (now 2 pounds!), she was adopted by our family. She is so small that we have to be very careful with her but she thinks she is as big as her best buddy – a miniature therapy horse named Magic.

Amelia is donating her winnings to Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses, an all-volunteer charity that works with over 45,000 adults and children each year. Amelia is a very small dog but since the therapy horses are also small, they wear dog jackets and use dog leashes and other supplies found at
