Product Reviews by Customers

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy assembly After reading several other reviews about assembling the crate I was compelled to add my opionion. The crate was not difficult to assemble. I assembled the crate by myself in less that 20 minutes. You do however need plenty of room. The one thing that could be an improvement is that the side panel would be interchangable so you could put the side door on either side. Other than that it is a wonderful product. February 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Quality Ginormous Crate! Bought this for my Catahoula mix pup that keeps getting bigger and outgrew his large crate. Used it first to foster a mom dog and her four puppies for our local humane society. Big enough for them all! Good quality, affordable, easy to put together and take apart. January 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Crate Have used MidWest for years but this is one of the best crates they have designed...finally a crate for Giants! October 7, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Nice Size. Terrible shipping The size of this create is exactly what I was looking for in a crate. I have two boxer puppies and at times have to babysit a third. The crate I had could not hold all three at the times I had to leave them at home. I ordered this crate so I could keep them all in the same crate and to ensure they have plenty of room as they grow. This crate servers that purpose very well. I dont know what happened between the time this package left their warehouse and the time it got to my home, but the package was beat up very badly. The floor portion of the crate had a crack on the little side wall about 12 inches long. It was almost broke off. A good many of the metal latches or sides where the walls connect together were bent and had to be straightened. A hassle I didnt want seeing as how the sides are so big and bulky. Definately need a helping had to get it together. This package was so heavy and the package so beat up, I didnt want the hassle with getting a new box and shipping it back. The price of this crate was very good for the size, but the condition of the product when it got to me was extremely disappointing. Since I wasnt at home when the delivery was made, i dont know what shipping company was used to send this crate, but if I was Groomers, I would not use them again. I will not be ordering other products of this size from them again. January 4, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by xxlcrate Although this crate was not too difficult to assemble, you do need plenty of space to do it. The crate was not as sturdy as my old smaller foldup. I bought a couple of plastic zip ties for $2 and that fixed the problem and made it more sturdy. My little 145lb Dane loves it. Finally a crate he can fully stand up in. I gave it a 5 star for price. This was the best price i could find on the web. March 13, 2009

Why did you choose this? Store
I have one crate already of the same size that is 12 years old and getting a little rusty. It was a good deal and I volunteer as a foster with a Great Dane Rescue so I can always use an extra crate.

I have a large 165lb great dane that grew out of all the kennels I bought him. Do you think he could fit into this crate? Thank you
A shopper on Mar 16, 2014
Best Answer: Your dog should fit just fine.
We bought this kennel and it's been good for us. We currently have a Mastiff/Dane puppy (14 months) who weighs in around 145 pounds. He is pretty tall and has no issues with the crate. We previously had a 150+ pound Blue Great Dane and he would have had plenty of room.
We really like the fact that it can open on the end or the side; we use the side entrance and our dog has plenty of room to walk in, stand up, turn around, and lay down.
The crate is 44.5" tall, 54.5" wide, and 36.5" deep. The door openings have 5" "knee walls" at the bottom and 2.5" headers across the top; the opening is still quite tall. The door openings are 28" wide; two FAT dogs could walk in abreast and still have room!
I would suggest that you place towels or a blanket UNDER the plastic tray to keep your Dane from possibly cracking the tray with his 165 pounds concentrated on the relatively small surface area of his feet. The tray is very durable and we've had no issues. Just a good precaution with the giant breeds.
Hope this helped!

Does it fold well for traveling?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2014
Best Answer: No, it needs to be completely disassembled and moved in pieces. The size of this crate is mainly for people that will never have to move it. When my wife and I go on vacation and drop the dog off at my parents, it generally takes about 15 minutes to disassemble and load, and another 15 minutes to put back together.

does this crate come with partitions for the dog to grow into?
Michelle G on Mar 15, 2014
Best Answer: No it does not. I highly recommend for Great Dane owners and all giant breeds. Danes of all sizes enjoy the space they have. Mine have been found sleeping in them when they have free reign of the house too. They can stand up and sit down with no issues.

When you assemble can you choose which side to put the second door or is it always on the left side?
Lacey B on Mar 3, 2014
Best Answer: I don't believe it will matter if you choose to attempt to put it together in the manner it was not designed for it will most likely still match up . The ends have eye holes that all line up on the corners then a connecting rod goes thru those holes to hold it together. You could choose to reverse it and it should still line up I like the crate it's sturdy and very big ( I have a Masstif puppy )

Can I purchase a replacement door for my 54x37x45 dog crate? My German Shephard busted the door down like someone was after him. It is the smaller door. Please help !!!!
Deb G on Apr 11, 2015
Best Answer: Our Mastiff does the same thing so we just got 2 carabiners and clipped his cage closed. Hasn't gotten out since! But he did eventually learn how to open the big door and we had to clip that one too.
