I work with feral kittens, and this condo is better for housing them than other condos. This is because the doors open left to right instead from the top down, which forces your body away from the condo. Also, the slide out tray makes cleaning much easier, and the shelve set up is much easier than other models.

This cage is indepensable in a multiple cat household or for anyone with a kitten. It is the ideal solution for anyone who has a kitten and cannot be home to monitor their activity at all times. Every kitten I have had or fostered has loved to play in this cage. The bars are spaced for easy climbing, but nothing is so high that injury is a real concern. It has been fantastic when I have taken in a cat who needed to be weaned onto the household food and litter. It has been a no-joke life saver when I have had cats who were sick and needed special care and monitoring. It has been a great safe space for elderly cats during the weeks of their life when it was no longer safe for them to be alowed to roam far from food, water and litter. I strongly recommend adding a hammock often marketed for ferrets if you have kittens, it is the best bed arrangement as it adds space. The fact that this thing collapses flat enough to fit under a couch is great, but I leave mine up all the time now since most of my cats enjoy it so much. The wheels allow me to move it fairly easily from room to room as needed, on thick pile carpets you have to push from the bottom and with throws on hard floors you need to pull to make sure you dont catch the carpet up. With heavy cats or rough play the shelves can tip just a tiny bit, never enough to dump a cat, but plenty to dump a food or water dish so it is best to velcro or tape down anything you want staying on the shelves.

I bought this item because my neutered male cat was urinating on the floor as a result of a stud male cat trying to bring my female into heat. My options where trying this or putting him to sleep. My stud has stopped spraying and my neutered male is happily alive and not urinating on the floor. It is a great item!

I originally purchased this from Dog.com to keep my cat in the social loop while she healed from reconstructive knee surgery. The playpen was perfect. During the evening she was free to roam in her own room. During the day I would put her in the playpen and allow the other cats to have social contact with her. If I wanted to put her in another room I simply rolled the playpen to that room. Assembly was pretty straight forward, but it may take a little while the first time. Be sure to secure the cage to the base using the tabs located in the base. There are two access doors which have a bar that slides down over the door to prevent accidental opening. I recommend the plastic base version, much lighter and very easy to clean. The benches are a little difficult to snap in, but if you place the tab midway between the horizontal bars then spred the vertical bars with your fingers it will snap in easily. After it is in place just push it down until it rests on a horizontal support bar. When I ordered mine it only came with the plastic benches, but I imagine the covered benches would be much nice. When I was done with it I rinsed it off, let it dry, broke it down and put it back in original box until I needed it again.
