Tug Toy lasted 5 min, 7/9/2011

Patagonia Sandy from Fredericksburg, VA

I gave the tug toy to my 7 mth old black lab mix. She chewed off one of the black handles in 5 minutes and started chewing and swallowing it. Not good. I had to toss it. Good idea in theory, but not in execution.

kong let me down, 8/7/2009

Dobermom from midlothian, il

i love all kong toys and they are very durable and would endorse all but this one. my dog can't even figure out what to do with it. he loves tug and when i try to get him to play with this toy he seems confused. the hard plastic is not an appealing material to play tug with.

Quickly destroyed, 4/20/2009

Millie from Akron, Oh

My 6 year old Airedale, destroyed this toy within 2 hours. I too was very disappointed with this product because Kong toys are generally very strong.

gone in minutes, 4/12/2009

ALISSA from LEBANON, PA

I was very dissappointed in this Kong Toy, my pit tore it to shreds in minutes, the only rubber kong he chewed right through and now I have 2 plastic handles he chews on, that's all that's left.

Not Kong's finest work, 3/24/2009

Brooklyn from North Dakota

I was disappointed. I love the Kong brand and needed a durable tug toy. My BT refuses to grab the black grip and instead bites the red hard plastic. I don't like the sound of it on her teeth, little pieces come off and it's just not very pet-friendly. Kong missed the mark on this one. (Sorry Kong)

ceecee from englewood, ohio

Our labs actually had this one a few days before they chewed it up. They liked to chew the red part.

Not made for chewing, 9/9/2008

Jen McElroy from Outside Chicago, IL

I bought this for my 4 month old lab/pointer mix and he very quickly chewed right through the black rubber on the end. The packaging does say that dogs shouldn't be allowed to chew on it, but I didn't know that when I bought it. I figured it was a KONG toy and they are designed for chewing. NOPE, not this one!

Ha!, 9/3/2008

Kim M from Lafayette, LA

We have two large retrievers that like to play tug with eachother. This toy lasted about a month before our Chesapeake Bay chewed it into 3 pieces. So far the "Kong" brand hasn't impressed me--typically expensive and doesn't hold up with heavy chewers. Several other Kong toys have not either.

Not fun, 8/24/2008

Shelbi from IL

My dog was not in the least bit interested in this. I imagine it is durable and would hold up well but I can't get him to play with it.

Good Tug Toy Only, 3/12/2008

Geraldine from Sugar Hill, GA

You must supervise while in play. I have four chocolate Labs who like to play tug amongst each other. I don't leave it out, as they will chew and destroy it. After two 15-minute play sessions, it's still intact. Another good Kong interactive tug, toss and squeak toy is the nylon Kong Wubba, which is more durable.

Don't waste your money..., 2/15/2008

Lab Mama from Baltimore, MD

Got this for our Lab puppy (7 mths - 53 lbs). He loves to tug but didn't like biting on the black rubber part, preferred to bite the red portion. It didn't matter - he broke it in 15 minutes (with supervised use). Not expecting this from a KONG. We paid extra anticipating the same reliable and rugged KONG experience we have had on other products. Don't bother.

Terrible Toy. Do not Buy!!!, 2/2/2008

Michael Knoll from Baltimore, MD

This is probably the worst tug toy we have ever owned. Our dog is a huge tugging fan. He is a large (90 lbs) american bulldog so he can really put some force on a toy. This toy lasted only about 15 minutes and was broken not once, not twice, but three different ways. First he rubber holding the 2 parts together broke and started to pull apart. Then soon after the first ring broke. Finally the rubber guard on the second ring gave out at the seam. We were extremely disappointed in this toy since the one it replaced cost 2 dollars and lasted 18 months.

Tug Not Chew, 9/12/2007

Shelly from Norman, OK

It makes a good tug toy. Even held up to my 80 pound lab. However it is definately not a chew toy. She managed to chew the toy in half within 24 hours of having it.

Tug of war only, 9/8/2007

Ora from Cleveland, OH

This is a very strong toy. I can pick my 60 lb pit bull up with it. This, however, is strictly a toy for tug of war. I accidentally left this toy with her unattended and she destroyed it in less than 10 min. Its a good toy for what its designed for though and Im waiting to get the second one in the mail.

Jenna from Detroit, MI

We used this for tug of war only and the third time that we used it, it snapped. I expected a little more durability from a kong toy.

Tugchew toy, 7/5/2007

Molly from

Our one year Lab, Molly loves to carry this toy around everywhere. She doesnt like to tug on it much but loves to chew it- very noisy. I seams to clean her teeth well. Unfortunately, after three days of chewing some of the black rubber on the end has started to break off. Its heavy in weight. Once she shook it around and it hit my 8 year old child in the face and left an inch long bruise. Otherwise, Molly loves the toy.

Tug Toy or Chew Toy, 6/21/2007

SB from Gulf Breeze, FL

We have an 8 month old Boxer who loves to chew on the rubber ends. Unfortunately she has already managed to destroy the rubber on one side in a matter of hours. When it is being used for tug of war with her it is great and she enjoys it then as well. It does not seem to be quite wide enough for her to put the rubber part of the bite piece on her back teeth, but other than that she really enjoys it. Because she has enjoyed chewing on the rubber so much we are going to get her the rubber bone by Kong.
