great for my Chihuahua, 3/17/2009
Chupacabra from lurking somewhere in the South West

I have had the hardest time brushing my Chihuahua's teeth. Everytime I try to get a finger or brush in there, he just pulls away. I almost snapped his head off trying to brush his teeth, so I decided to let him do it himself. The first thing I bought was this blue thing with bristles that cost $15. It said not to let the dog use this for more than a few minutes. Well, I put it down and my Chi didn't go for it, and I had to pick it up in case he did while I was gone. Then I got the Kong dental stick. It is inexpensive and really works. He loves it. If you think it is not durable, keep in mind, a bully stick costs as much, and won't last as long. You may have to buy more to replace them. I use mine with Petrodex toothpaste in the grooves, and it's better than paying $200 and risking anesthesia complications for a professional teeth cleaning. His teeth are very clean now, thanks to this product. They should make an extra strong one, like they do with Kong toys. But as is, this is a winner for me!

Kong dental stick, 11/28/2008
ceecee from englewood, ohio

My lab had this in pieces within 10 minutes! I was really disappointed since this was a Kong I thought it might last her a little longer.

Gnaw-t as tough as we thought!, 6/16/2008
Chris from Blythewood, SC

Our flat-coat retriever finished this off in one evening. Our JR terrier nibbled on this for a while, but finally gnawed it down to a nub. If you have chewers like we do, your best bet is probably the classic Kong.

Great, 6/16/2008
Jennifer from Sharon, PA

My Pit Bull puppy loves this toy. The only thing you have to watch is the pounds that they recomment each one for. Ours it for a size larger dog then what he is. Everyone I know that has Pit Bulls recommended this toy to me and my dog loves it. Anyone who knows Pit Bulls knows they are stonge chewers.

Not so tough, 3/8/2008
Nancy from Wichita, KS

This toy wasn't so tough - my dog chewed half of it up in about 15-20 minutes. If you have a real tough chewer, I wouldn't recommend this toy.

Not Durable for Power Chewers, 3/7/2008
Peri from Maryland

I bought this toy for my little Mountain View Cur puppy, but my lab got ahold of it and chewed the ends off in no time. The toy is not destroyed, and as along as I keep it away from the power chewers, it's ok. But defintely not as durable as I had hoped.

Not tough..., 1/13/2008
Martha A. Lemburg from Jackpot, NV.

I got this for my one year old A.P.B.T. and she had it tore up in two days. Do be careful about what they say is tough. The price is good if you don't have a tough dog...

Labs love it, 11/13/2007
Sara from Indian Trail, NC

My black lab rather loves to chew, I tried buying lots of toys and see which would last. This seems to be his favorite so far and he has not been able to break it, yet.

Our one year old lab had the ends chewed off within minutes. NOT a durable chew toy as advertised.

safest treat on the market, 6/21/2007
Tres from NYC

I stuff this with frozen meat or organic salt and sugar free peanut butter and it keeps our dogs busy for longer than any other treat and I dont have to worry about them choking on something. This is the best and safest treat on the market!

Great for a Jack Russell, 5/12/2007
TX Lady from Corpus Christi, TX

Anyone who knows Jack Russell terriers knows theyre hard to keep amused for long--they have a short attention span...my 9 yr. old adopted JR isnt much for toys, but loves her Kong Dental Stick when I put some peanut butter in the ends and a few of the slots. Its the only thing shell chew on for awhile other than edible bones. It was such a relief to find something that would interest her!

Not for small dogs, 2/23/2007
Karen from The Colony, TX

Our larger dog never put a dent in it, This toy lasted a couple of months until our smaller dog 55 lbs was able to get her little teeth in the ends & pull it apart within minutes. Until then our dogs loved tugging on it or chewing solo great for gums. Our larger dog 95lbs never put a dent in it.
