Product Summary:

K&H Mfg Lectro Soft Heated Outdoor Dog Pad

A soft, outdoor heated bed, the Lectro Soft™ Heated Outdoor Dog Pad is great for outdoor shelters, basements, or anywhere that can get uncomfortably chilly for your dog. The bed is soft enough to be orthopedic, and even works in subzero temperatures. The heaters warm due to the insulation your pets body provides when lying on the pad, so they maintain a constant temperature while your pet is snuggled inside. Energy used remains low so it won’t cost you or the environment. Super-soft PVC is used on the exterior to ensure the bed doesn't absorb water and stay wet like a fabric bed would.

Features:

  • Provides comforting warmth outside
  • Works in subzero temperatures
  • Made of soft, non-absorbent PVC
  • Uses low wattage to control energy costs
  • Can be used indoors
  • One-year limited warranty
  • Maximum interior temperature 102 degrees F

Item Specifications:

Sizes:
Small 14” x 18”
Medium 19” x 24”

is it good for whelping pups?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2015
Best Answer: Yes. It would be better than a normal heating pad because of protected cord. I'd put it under the blanket & sheet covering the whelping box so it wasn't too warm. Remember the bitch won't probably lay on it & the way the pups find the milk bar is by the warmth of the dam's tummy. Make sure it's smaller than your whelping box.

I have a cat with occasional incontinence. Is this likely to be a fire hazard with water?
Lou-Anne B on Sep 22, 2015
Best Answer: Although I'm not an expert with fire hazards, I don't think it would be a problem. It appears to be covered with a heavy vinyl and it doesn't appear that liquid would penetrate it. Mine also came with a lightweight fleece cover and I would think that would absorb any accident. Mine worked beautifully last winter. I have a cat carrier and a small fabric dog house that my outside kitties use as beds (they are in the garage and the door is left ajar for them to come and go). I added these heated beds and my cats are very comfortable in them. The beds only warm when something is on them and I checked on the cats while they were in the little "houses" and they were toasty warm. By leaving the garage door open, the garage is as cold as it is outside and these worked beautifully to keep the kitties warm.

how do you clean the pad ?
norine c on Dec 17, 2015
Best Answer: It seems to be a type of vinyl cover and I wouldn't hesitate to wipe it down with a damp cloth or even a cleaner. Mine came with a lightweight sherpa type cover which helps keep the pad itself clean. I haven't had to wash it yet but when I do, I will line dry it just to be sure there is no shrinking.

I recently purchased a medium KH heated dog bed and it doesn't seem to heat up. Is there a trick that I am missing? I noticed a small red plug type of thing on the bottom, does that serve a purpose?
Rob l on Nov 28, 2014
Best Answer: The dog bed is like an air mattress. The red plug just controls how much the mattress inflates or deflates. Once you plug-in the mattress with the red plug open you should see that the mattress gets a bit thicker.

The mattress does not heat up until weight is put on. It will feel cold with out the dog sleeping on it, but you should feel the warmth once the dog laid down for a while. It's not getting really hot.

Worried about the safety of this bed. My dogs tend to chew on their beds. Would this bed be a danger to them?
SHARON S on Feb 15, 2015
Best Answer: As per the manufacturer:
Not recommended for destructive pets. If your pet has the potential to chew we suggest purchasing the Lectro-Kennel Heated Pad.

i am looking at using this for two handicapped ducks. So I am wondering if they would weigh enough to cause the pad to heat up? or is the pad warm all the time but then get warmer as they sit on it.
julie l on Nov 15, 2014
Best Answer: The pad is warm the entire time it is plugged in.

Can you use blankets with this product?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2014
Best Answer: Yes, I believe you can. The pad has air in it. It's not like a human heating pad that gets very warm. It is actually luke warm to the touch that heats when pet lays on top. It never gets hot. I'm not sure your pet would get the desired warmth if the pad has layers of blankets laying on top. I use the pad for ferrel cats. Not sure I would leave a dog out in very cold temps. Good luck.
