The K&H Thermo Kitty Bed has a dual thermostat 4 watt heating unit buried deep  within its thick, super soft, orthopedic foam base. 
It warms the surface 10-15 degrees above ambient air temperature to a cat pleasing 102 degrees when in use. 
The cover is removable for washing.

How do they work? K&H’s low wattage, pressure sensitive heating elements heat their beds to approximately 15° above room temperature when unoccupied and to 102° (a dog or cats normal body temperature) when occupied. That’s what makes them so appealing to pets and energy efficient.   This bed is so energy efficient that the average monthy electrical cost is only 8 cents!!!

Not worth $60...., 12/7/2009

This bed is very well made, and its a pretty sage color. But I have a chinese crested and its not even warm enough for him. Its a very small pad under the padding. It only covers the center. The heating difference is hardly noticable. This dog do'nt even care to use it. He'd rather sleep next to the portable heater. NOT at all worth $60. Save your money and buy a heating pad and cover it with a blanket. MUCH CHEAPER.
