GREAT PRODUCT!, 3/2/2010

don dean from

I've have 6-10 bloodhounds at any one time with new foster dogs coming all the time. They absolutely destroy new plastic crate pans in a few short weeks. If I had only discovered these pans sooner I could have saved six years of hassle and buying new pans. I bought them, liked them and bought more. I now use six. They're great. I can't believe people wine about a little grey dust and a bent corner. I had one with a bent corner. It hit it with a hammer once. problem fixed. This product is great and the service was great.

Very disappointed!, 11/12/2009

Sonya Underwood from Columbus, Oh.

I was on a desperate search for a metal crate pan when just over a week ago, my 1 year old German Shepherd decided he wanted to chew and destroy his plastic crate pan. I needed to find something right away since each day there was less and less of a plastic pan. Dog.com was one of 2 or 3 sites I found that actually carry the metal pans, and they seemed to have the best price. In my rush to get this thing ordered, I ended up picking the wrong size. I must say, the customer service team at dog.com is WONDERFUL! They helped me get my order stopped and get the correct size ordered. They also called me to make sure I received the product in time and gave me a UPS tracking number. Kudos for customer service! What I didn't like was the product itself. It is VERY cheaply made, and as other reviewers have stated, if you don't wipe it down, a grey dust coating the pan WILL rub off on your dog. But, the worst part was that the corners were unfinished! They are jagged and sharp and I could not run the risk of leaving my dog in the crate with a pan like that. If he even TRIED to chew it he would have absolutely cut his mouth up to shreds. I ended up trading crate pans with my mother since her dog is older and not a chewer - but we still had to put duct tape over the corners. This pan may work if you have a laid-back dog, but if your pup is a chewer, this pan could be downright dangerous! My hope is that this gets back to the manufacturer and they do something about this asap so that no pups get hurt on those corners!

Satisfied, 10/9/2009

Joe from Port Richey, FL

I have a 120 lb Rottweiler that literally crushed the plastic trays against the bottom of the crate. Each one lasted about 6 months before cracks appeared and had to be replaced. The plastic ones didn't cost a fortune, but replacement costs were adding up. When the metal pan arrived I noticed it was scratched and one corner was slightly bent. I'm sure that this was a case of getting bounced around in the truck. It was easily straightened. with a pair of plyers. I have a large crate and the pan was about 1/2 inch short on all sides, but large enough to easily let Rommel lay down. The "lips" on the sides are about an inch high and angled to retain any "upchucks" or accidents. What I didn't like about the pan was the apparently soft metal it is made of. Thick, but soft. I shouldn't have been able to straighten it as easily as I did. The pan appears to be molded by machinery and doesn't have that "finished" look. But then we are talking about a crate pan here. The 47Lx27.5Wx1.25D was $37.99, and a little pricey, but metal is not cheap, and it will probably be a one time buy. I also didn't like the way the plastic pans used to warp. The creaking noise used to drive my wife crazy. Overall, I'm happy with the pan and would recommend it for anyone with a heavy dog. Just keep in mind that this is a crate pan and not fine cookware.

Chew Proof, 4/7/2009

Pamela Denny from Santa Fe, TX

This is a great pan if you have a dog that chews the plastic pan or your plastic pans crack easily... It might discolor your dogs fur a little (a grayish color) but it is better than having surgery for impaction from the plastic pans...this is a must for those doggies that chew everything.

don't buy this unless your dog is black!, 2/3/2009

Joyce Kupres from Lake Mills, WI

I have a yellow lab who seems to wear out plastic pans quickly and I had a hard time finding a metal pan. This "galvanized metal" turns my dog's fur gray and anything else she rubs against with her gray fur. She can't have a mat or rug in her crate because she eats them. WHO WOULD MAKE A CRATE PAN LIKE THIS? I am also unhappy with dog.com for offering a product this bad.

Replacement Pan, 8/24/2008

Kristen McGavock from Charlotte, NC

The pan is wonderful! My two dogs have chewed through everything in the last year. They chewed through two plastic trays, the carpet, the padding, and some of the floor. :) The replacement pan has been wonderful!!! It is the first thing that the dogs have not been able to chew through. I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful!, 5/2/2008

Sydney from Atlanta, GA

This is the only website where I have been able to find a metal crate pan. The size was perfect for my midwest lifestages crate! Also my dog will not be able to break this one by scratching or anything else! It only took about a week to receive the products I ordered, and I only had to pay $1.99 extra for FedEx (2-6) day shipping. I had no problems at all!

Not Happy, 12/18/2007

J. Jordan from Orlando,Fl.

I have a large dog and he broke his plastic pan in his cage. I have been searching for about 6 months for a metal pan that he cant break. A friend found this site and I ordered this pan. It took 3 weeks to get and I did not get the pan in this picture. It also was bent and scratched. I will be returning it. I thought I found the solution to a problem. I am not happy at all.And neither is my dog. I would recommend this site because I ordered a sweat shirt for him and had no problem.

Misleading on Shipping Time Frame., 1/27/2007

Dawn from Buffalo Grove IL

I just want the other consumers to know, that when you purchase this item or any other replacement item, it does not come from dogs.com it comes from the manufacturer so therefore the shipping which states is 2-3 days is really 2-3weeks. I did call the customer service # and register this complaint and they assured me they would address the problem. I advise them that is very misleading to the consumer, when there are many other websites to choose from.
