Bite Not Pet Collar

The BiteNot Collars are an excellent alternative to the traditional Elizabethan collar. It provides unimpeded peripheral vision and allows them to eat, drink, sleep and play while protecting back, rump, base of tail, flanks, chest, abdomen, and genitals (even feet in small breeds). These collars are not recommended for protecting eyes or ears.  These collars are made of flexible plastic and foam and are machine washable helping you easily keep it clean. They are the only cervical restraint with a harness strap and that means these collars stay on. When choosing size, remember that the collar must stretch from behind the animal's ear to the top of its shoulder for maximum protection.

Why did you choose this?

In my opinion, this is the absolute BEST protection collar on the market......after any type of surgery to either a dog or cat. The animal is able to eat, drink, chew bones, biscuits etc without any problems. It is especially great for the animal as they aren't knocking into anything or walking into walls like the Elizabethan collars! They are also very comfortable for the animal to wear and easy to put on and adjust for sizing.

borrowed one for my doberman that had surgery. Didn't work. My dog got it off, chewed it and tore out stitches. I am replacing the one I borrowed!!

My husky is having her back leg ACL repaired she is 45lbs, should I go for size 5 which goes up to 45lbs or size 6?
Also will she be able to reach her back hock area in this device?

Best Answer: Size sould be determind by the length of the dogs neck.there should be a chart that tells you witch collar to get. I used the 2.5 on a 9 lb dog. Get the right size and it will protect his hole back leg.

How do you wash and dry the BiteNot collar? We've used one for a while and it's getting stinky.
MALCOLM S on Apr 24, 2015
Best Answer: I prefer to hand wash with Dawn and warm water. After rinsing out the soap you can soak the collar in water with baking soda (if it still smells to you). Soak for about thirty minutes, rinse well and air dry.

What is the best way to order this item. By weight or should I measure? Looking at buying for my puppy who is 4 months so that we will have when he is neutered at 6 months. He is a Boston Terrier and weighs 12 pounds right now. I just want to make sure I have it when he has his surgery which I know is a while away but wanted to be proactive.

Best Answer: I ordered it by measuring. However, I can tell you that it ended up not working very well for my dog. The collar--unless it is augmented with some additional straps and other means of comfort can be easily slipped off by the dog. The collar because it is padded seemed to be very hot and uncomfortable around my dog's neck. I also found that my dog was very uncomfortable when trying to lay down and sleep because it is so stiff and teh front part of the collar "bit" into my dog's shoulders. My solution ended up being the purchase of inflatable e-collars. I bought a small one and a large one and stacked them. I also used zip ties to attach them to a harness (vs. a dog collar) so that they would stay back off the dog's face and not be pulled off. My dog was not the happiest but it sure kept him from getting near his genital area and he could still sleep. Since you have a puppy, you may be able to get by with only one inflatable e-collar and attach it to a harness. I have not found the inflatable e-collars at stores--I had to order them online.

is the size 8x32 mean 8" wide by 32" long (end to end)?
A shopper on Dec 10, 2014
Best Answer: Yes the 32" inches is the length. I bought one for my large dog when I had her spayed and it worked beautifully. She was able to eat, sleep and walk with it on without discomfort. I would recommend it over a cone or Elizabethan collar.
